PARENT NEWSLETTER 10TH November 2010
Hi All,
It's hard to believe its nearly Christmas! The year has flown by. Here are a few updates about things we have been doing.
Bookings - You all should have received by email and post a copy of your weekend bookings for 2011. If you have not received them please contact me for a copy. We still have some vacancies for the January school holiday period. If you are wanting a booking over this time please contact Carla asap, as bookings are filling fast and we cannot guarantee you will receive the dates you are after.
Medication - Please remember that we are only able to accept your child's medication in the Medico Blister pack. We also require a copy of their current prescription and the medication sign-off sheet that the pharmacy provides with the Blister packs. If your child requires treatments, such as topical creams or PRN medication (panadol etc), please ask the pharmacist to add this to the back of the medication sign-off sheet. If you have any questions regarding this, please phone me.
Garden - The staff and clients have been working hard on our Edible Garden. We have strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, and herbs growing so far. Everyone has done a wonderful job with this project.
Contact Details – Please remember to update your contact details as soon as they change. If your child becomes ill, or there is a serious incident we need to be able to reach you. Please note that if your child becomes ill while at the home, it is your responsibility to collect them as soon as possible. This also applies to when the home is closing due Civil Defence emergencies.
Christmas Party – We will be holding our annual Christmas party on Sunday 12th December at 2.30pm. We will have a visit from Santa, and a light afternoon tea and sausage sizzle. Please remember that you are responsible for the supervision of your own child from 2.30pm on this day if they are booked in for the weekend.
Sun Safety - We are applying sunscreen morning, lunch and at afternoon tea. Can you please provide your child with a hat on their stays at the home (although we are aware that not everyone likes to wear them), we will endeavour to keep them on while outside.
Carer Support Forms – Can you please remember to send a signed Carer Support form on each stay your child has at the home.
Clothing – Recently we have had a lot of clothing arrive that is not named, and no clothing lists have been provided for the weekend. This makes packing bags for home very difficult. Can you all please remember to name your child's clothing and provide a detailed clothing list for each stay.
Drop Off and Pick Up - Please remember that over the school holiday periods that drop off is AFTER 4pm and that pick up is by 3.30pm. It is important that parents/caregivers stick to these times due to our staffing ratios, and the needs of the clients.
New Clients - We are happy to welcome two new clients and their families to our service.
Swimming - With the warmer weather now upon us, can you please remember to pack your child's swimming togs. As we may have trips to the local pool or the beach over the weekends or holidays.
Menus – At MMRCC we strive to provide a wide range of home cooked meals, and the staff do a wonderful job. If you have any suggestions of recipes that you would like to share with us, or something that your child really enjoys. Please let us know.
Activities - The children enjoyed a great range of Halloween activities this year. Decorations were up, scary spider cookies were made, green slime, and spider drinks were enjoyed by everyone. If you have any ideas for activities that your child enjoys, please let us know, and we are happy to give it a try.
This is the last newsletter for 2010. I hope that you all enjoy a safe, and happy Christmas and New Year. MMRCC closes on Sunday 19th December, and re-opens on Friday 31st December right through until Sunday 30th January. I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year
Best Wishes,
Carla Manson
Manager
